The Division for School Readiness (DSR) works to develop a coordinated, efficient and cost effective delivery system for early childhood education to ensure that all children in Arizona start 1st grade safe, healthy, and ready to succeed.
The Division for School Readiness advises and makes recommendations to the Governor, the Superintendent of Public Instruction and to the Legislature on the most effective policy direction and methods to improve the coordination, quality and delivery of early care and educational services. This includes preschool childcare and family support services.
Governor Napolitano’s 5-year School Readiness Action Plan is the starting point for building a high quality early childhood education system that supports the learning and development of Arizona's youngest children. The goal is to ensure that all Arizona children begin 1st grade safe, healthy and ready to succeed. Governor Napolitano’s School Readiness Action Plan was developed with input from 144 business and community leaders, child care, education and health professionals, tribal representatives, state agencies, and elected officials.
