Janet Garcia is the Deputy Director of the Governor’s Office for Children Youth and Families and the Director of the Arizona Governor’s Division for Children, one of seven Divisions within the Governor’s Office of Children Youth and Families. The Division for Children works to promote a coordinated and integrated system of care that responds quickly and comprehensively to the needs of children and families, and oversees the implementation of the federal Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention and Juvenile Accountability Block Grants for Arizona. |

| Prior to coming to the Governor’s Division for Children in August of 2005, Janet was the Executive Director of Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development. She was employed by Tumbleweed for a total of 20 years, 4 years as a Counselor and Program Manager and 16 years as the Executive Director. During this time, Tumbleweed developed a continuum of programs for runaway, homeless, abused and delinquent youth. The agency contracted with multiple local, state and federal agencies to provide effective programs focusing on the developmental needs of the youth and families served. |

| Janet has served on various Commissions and Boards including the Arizona Juvenile Justice Commission, the Human Services Commission, the Western States Youth Services Board, the Social Service Indemnity Pool Board, and the Board of Soroptomist International of Phoenix. She is a Peer Monitor for Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs and a Peer Reviewer for Runaway and Homeless Youth Grant Applications and other application processes. Janet received her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Mesa State College in Grand Junction Colorado in 1980. In 1984 she received her Master’s in Counseling from Arizona State University. |
