| Arizona Shared Youth Vision – Partners Assuring Youth Success |
| |
GOCYF received a US Department of Labor grant for the Partners Assuring Youth Success (PAYS) pilot program, which will train and supervise young people who have successfully navigated the child welfare and/or juvenile justice system to become mentors for youth currently in these systems in Pinal County. This project is implemented in partnership with other GOCYF initiatives: the Federal Shared Youth Vision Project and the Child Welfare Juvenile Justice Integration Initiative.
The PAYS program is a partnership between Arizona’s State Team and the Pinal-Gila Counties Partnership for Youth and Families. The geographic area for this effort is primarily Pinal County with some participation by youth in Gila County. This largely rural area has experienced exponential growth due to its proximity to the Phoenix metropolitan area yet has limited resources to address the increasing needs that accompany this increase in population. |

Project goals are to: |
- Increase the engagement and retention of youth transitioning from state and county systems of care into adulthood
- Develop and strengthen partnerships with local educational entities and employers to prepare, employ and retain young people transitioning from care into jobs appropriate for their needs.
