Accepting Nominations! |
The mission of the Governor’s Volunteer Awards is to promote an ethic of volunteer service and to recognize volunteer efforts that strengthen communities and improve the quality of life for Arizonans.
A panel of judges from across the state will select award recipients. Nominations will be accepted through January 12, 2009. Winners will be announced as early as February 2009. The Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism will host a reception to honor the 8th annual award recipients in the spring of 2009. |

Award Categories: |
|
|
Lifetime Achievement: |
Awarded to an individual who exemplifies the ideals of service and had actively served for at least the past 25 years. |
|
|
| |
Youth: |
Awarded to an individual 17 years of age or younger at the time of nomination. |
|
|
| |
Youth Group: |
Awarded to a group of two or more youth, 17 years of age and younger at the time of nomination. |
|
|
| |
Adult: |
Awarded to an individual 18 years of age or older at time of nomination. |
|
|
| |
Adult Group: |
Awarded to a group of two or more adults, 18 years of age and older at the time of nomination. The majority of the group volunteers (75% or more) must not be employees of the organization for which they serve. |
|
|
| |
Small Business/Government: |
Awarded to an entity with 100 or fewer employees, whose employees volunteer in a community on behalf of the business/government entity. |
|
|
| |
Large Business/Government: |
Awarded to an entity with 101 or more employees, whose employees volunteer in a community on behalf the business/government entity. |
|
|
| |
Nonprofit: |
Awarded to a community or faith based organization that is registered as a 501(c)3 or 501(c)6 nonprofit entity with the Internal Revenue Service. |
|
|
| |
National Service: |
Awarded to a current, individual member of an AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps*VISTA, AmeriCorps National Direct, Senior Corps or other national service program in Arizona. . |
|
|
| |
Service Learning: |
Awarded to a practitioner of this teaching method in a K-12 school, institute of higher education, or nonprofit organization, who has helped participants learn academic concepts by participating in thoughtfully organized service that meets community needs. |

|
| |
| How to Nominate: |
| Complete application form and no more than 2-page response to essay questions. Mail, email, fax, hand deliver, or submit online by January 12, 2009. |
