LeaderCorps  
   

What is LeaderCorps?

 

LeaderCorps provides leadership opportunities for Arizona AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps*VISTA members across the state.  Each Arizona AmeriCorps State, National and Tribal program is able to have two of  their members become a part of LeaderCorps during a program year.

   
LeaderCorps History:  

LeaderCorps was founded in 1995 to promote, develop, and challenge members of National Service to plan, organize and implement trainings, service opportunities and community activities to foster an ethic of service in their communities.

 

LeaderCorps Members:

  • Act as ambassadors of service.
  • Foster collaboration among National Service programs in Arizona.
  • Assist in member development activities, which include the annual National Service Conference.

Benefits of LeaderCorps:

  • For the member:
    Opportunities for leadership training in meeting facilitation, team building, communication skills, service learning, conference planning, community outreach, and service project development.  

  • For the AmeriCorps program and host-sites:
    A highly trained and enthusiastic National Service member who has a network of service partners across the state in all areas of education, social service, county government, law enforcement, public service, etc.  LeaderCorps members will act as leaders for their home program by using their learned skills in the areas of member training and development.
     
  • For the Community:  
    An active and trained leader who can "get things done" on a grassroots level by motivation people through modeling an ethic of service.
     
  • For the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Governor's Commission on Service and Volunteerism, and the Governor's Division for Community and Youth Development: 
    Highly skilled and motivated ambassadors of service; local connections to communities through LeaderCorps members.
