| Arizona Governor’s Youth Commission - Membership Requirements |

| Commitment |
Membership in the Governor’s Youth Commission (GYC) is determined through a competitive application process. Applications for the 2009-2010 year will be available in spring 2009. For more information contact: Christopher Bodington (602) 542-3422 or cbodington@az.gov |

| Commissioners are expected to: |
- Attend four meetings a year (usually scheduled in July, October, January, and April)
- Contribute to the planning and execution of the GYC’s special events and activities including:
- Actively participating in committees
- Actively participating in conference calls
- Communicate via email, phone or the GYC’s web site (members are expected to check
their email on a weekly basis)
- Provide their own transportation to and from meetings (carpools are provided from the
State Capitol to the meeting location by Governor’s staff)
- Serve as a role model and adhere to a high code of conduct
- Serve as a liaison to other youth

| In addition to the above requirements, each commissioner must also have an adult mentor or
advisor who he/she can turn to for help and support when completing projects. Mentors or
advisors can include a teacher, counselor, youth group leader, or parent. |
